Scott Schuman, famed fashion critique, photographer + “Top 100 Design Influencers”, has come out with a book having the same title of his blog, The Sartorialist. Having occupied much of our summer reading interests, this beautiful anthology captures fashion forward hooligans, artists, ex-drug attics, + students on the streets of New York, Milan, Paris, London, Moscow, + Stockholm. Essentially the book takes Schuman’s favorite images + adds some of his own insightful commentary that is not too much but just enough to get your mind wondering about the street-savy shots put together in this small, thick, paper-back with an elegantly simple format.
The Sartorialist explores the separation between what you may see on the runways versus what chic people are really wearing to bring out their own style through creative explorations of textures, colors, layers, + forms. Scott’s beautiful photographs capture notable fashion figures + normal people on the street that will definitely challenge + expand your view of others’ sense of style + hopefully your own – who knows, maybe if Mr. Schuman comes out with a second volume, hopefully you may find yourself within its pages. -PJax
