Visual Acoustics - Julius Shulman

Visual Acoustics, The Modernism of Julius Shulman is a documentary film by Eric Bricker and narrated by Dustin Hoffman, that we recently saw which follows the legendary imprint of arguably the greatest architectural photographer in history. Beginning in the 1930’s, Julius Shulman was a photographer + artist who produced beautifully iconic images of some of the most progressive modern architecture in ushering true design into the American mainstream. With a sharp eye of composition + a quick wit that are genuinely documented in this film, Shulman charted the likes of Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, R.M. Schindler, John Lautner, + Frank Gehry in establishing the Californian sense of modernism whose lifeblood still undeniably flows through today’s leading design spaces, magazines, publications, minds, words + art. - PJax
